Hello, I'm Michele Payne, an abstract artist based on the South coast in Sussex, in the UK.

Since graduating from Brighton University in the 90s, I've worked as a surface and textile designer, so it's been exciting to explore becoming an artist over the past five years and I'm enjoying how my work is unfolding.

My painting practice is intuitive and emotion-led, often starting with colours that have an emotional resonance for me.

Recent themes for my art have been connection and belonging, which have inspired bright, evocative paintings that incorporate elements of symbolism, fragmented, imagined landscapes and structures created from blurred memories and glimpses of nature.
